DESCRIPTION
In this final section of the arsenal the Apostle Paul tells us that we must receive two different pieces of equipment to be fully clad for the battle. The first is the helmet of salvation. The helmet of salvation was purchased for us by Jesus Christ through his death on the cross and his resurrection from the dead. We must wear this helmet with honor and give God praise and glory for what he has accomplished in our lives.
This helmet protects the head and guards our mind. It is important that we understand that at conversion we have been given the mind of Christ. Even though the enemy will continue to attempt to get to our hearts through our minds we have an arsenal that helps us to defeat our foe and live victoriously.
Not only is our head guarded and protected, we also are given our first offensive weapon. The spoken word of God, which is referred to as the Sword of the Spirit, is powerful and effective for accomplishing God’s purposes. The spoken word allows us to use what God has revealed in a powerful way to defeat Satan.
Throughout the entirety of the Bible we learn that the Word of God is true and is foundational for all successful ministry. God desires that we not only learn and understand His Word but speak His Word so that we can access His power in and through our lives. Many Christians do not spend the time necessary to listen to, study, memorize, and learn the Word so that they can use it in their lives.
